Graduate Bio:
Andrea Doffing began Mirabai Chocolates in June 2005. Her business specializes in hand-crafted organic chocolates. These decadent chocolates are made in the community kitchen space called La Cocina located in San Francisco's Mission District.

Andrea's business idea came to her in a vividly-detailed dream that entailed her and her husband trekking through the rainforest in search of a local farmer to produce chocolate. When she awoke she knew it was a sign.

Andrea began to teach herself how to work with chocolate and how to start a business. She read diligently, and took courses through Women's Initiative. Andrea says, "Women's Initiative helped me utilize tools from both the left and right sides of my brain. I discovered how to leverage these tools so that I may sustain myself and my family."

Environmental and social sustainability is very important to Andrea and her business. Mirabai Chocolates uses only the highest quality organic, fair-trade and certified shade-grown chocolate. Additional ingredients include locally-grown organic cream, herbs and spices.

Mirabai Chocolates sells its delectable products to large corporations such as Microsoft and Lowe's Enterprise, where chocolates may be individually packaged with a company logo. Additionally, Mirabai Chocolates are available for large parties such as weddings or public-related events.
