Development Coordinator—Institutional Gifts

Women’s Initiative is a nonprofit microenterprise agency that has been helping lower income women to become financially independent since 1988. We are a growing organization, and looking to add dynamic fundraisers to our team. As the Development Coordinator on the Institutional Gifts team, you will be an integral part of the development staff, helping to liaise with institutional donors, maintain data integrity, and research new prospective funding institutions—foundations, corporations, and government.

More specifically you will:

• Ensure prompt and meaningful communication with donors and friends by packaging proposals and reports, sending regular mailings including invitations, updates on organization’s progress, and writing basic inquiries and thank you letters to donors.
• Increase WI’s institutional donor base and develop cultivation strategies for donors.
• Drive grants team progress by tracking report and proposal submissions, keeping and updating calendar of deadlines, communicating next steps to team.
• Coordinate meetings by setting dates, alerting invitees, taking notes, and conducting follow-up.
• Manage Raiser’s Edge Institutional Gifts prospecting, proposals, and reports data entry.
• Arrange site visits with donors, including preparing the meeting space and materials, arranging for necessary technology set-up, and ordering refreshments, etc. as appropriate.


Day to day activities will include:

• entering and updating items in Raisers Edge (RE),
• tracking research and prospects—putting research notes in RE, and packaging the findings for others when they ask for it, etc.
• creating lists and reports for different departments,
• following up with team members about proposals and reports not documented
• coordinating and sending out mailings (getting correct contact info) ,
• following up with various staff on different projects to make sure projects are on track
• coordinating some larger projects, such as letters of support for specific initiatives, and quarterly “touches” with top prospects
• packaging grant contracts, proposals and reports, and duplicating documents
• filing (corporate, individual, foundations, and government documents),
• communicating with funders,
• attending meetings and representing Women’s Initiative at events.


Qualifications:
• 2+ years experience in fundraising and/or executive administration.
• Experience drafting professional thank you letters and basic correspondence.
• Impeccable attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Accountability, including ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, effective communication skills.
• Excellent PC skills, including Word & Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to relate well to people of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds.
• Raisers Edge experience is preferred.
• Campaign planning experience is desirable.


This is a full time position based in the heart of downtown Oakland. The salary range is $38,000 - $44,000 per year with a benefits package including significant PTO, health, dental and more. The Development Coordinator reports to the Institutional Relations Manager.
